Wiley Publisher Joe Wikert Wins Blogging Award

Wiley VP and Publisher (ok, and my boss) Joe Wikert has won Book Chronicle Blog’s first annual Litty Award for best publishing blog. Not bad for someone who started blogging as the result of a challenge from Robert Scoble - in fact it might have been required as part of our publishing Naked Conversations if I remember correctly.

So why does Joe’s blog stand out? I think it is a result of his open and honest look at the publishing industry, and great advice for authors. I’ve worked with Joe for nearly 10 years, and I can tell you that what you see on his blog is what he is like in the office.

I’ve been somewhat cautious (boring?) in my blogging here up to this point, and I think I’ll be taking Joe’s approach going forward and trying to be more transparent. I’ll also be bringing in some other folks from time to time to guest blog on special topics, so stay tuned for that.

I ‘d also like to invite readers to submit questions via my contact form to get this blog moving a bit. You can ask anything at all concerning publishing and I’ll give an open and honest answer. If I don’t know the answer, I have access to thousands of colleagues here at Wiley so I’ll get you an answer one way or another. If it is a question outside of Wiley’s publishing categories (we don’t publish fiction, for instance) I have access to many agents and colleagues outside of Wiley and will do my best to get an answer for you.

Oh, and - congratulations Joe!
